Pest controller Rory Collins is being kept busy by an explosion in the mole population in Northumberland and Peebleshire.
Rory, from Belford, has had to put requests to deal with other pests – such as rats, ants or carpet moths – on hold.
"It's happening because most of the old professional mole catchers have gone now," he said. "It's amazing the requests I'm getting, the moles really are everywhere. You only have to drive around the area to see how their numbers have grown."
Rory is finding his clients vary from golf courses, football and cricket clubs, to gardens and farmers – even churches are approaching him!
At the recent Wooler Parish Council meeting, concern was voiced that daffodil bulbs which had been planted on South Road, had been dug up by moles. And mole hills have also been spotted on Berwick Cricket Club's Pier Road outfield.
Rory 43, gave up his career as a forester on a local estate to concentrate full time on his pest control business and is now one from the most qualified pest controllers in the north east.
