A pest control firm established on the Isle of Wight last year has achieved a national accreditation award.
Ryde-based 5 Star Pest Control gained National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA) accreditation following an audit that scrutinised the company's working methods and administration.
With 16 years of pest control experience under his belt, David French, who runs 5 Star Pest Control, received the award at the PestTech exhibition, in Birmingham.
The NPTA is one of the leading bodies representing the British pest control industry.
"It was always my ambition to achieve this award and makes the past 18 months of hard work worthwhile. Accreditation clearly demonstrates to all of our customers, past and present, our commitment to providing the highest standards of professionalism and technical expertise," said Mr French. "It now makes us the only fully accredited NPTA pest control company on the Island."
Mr French, who formed 5 Star Pest Control last year, won the Charles Keeble Award in 2007 - a top national pest control industry award - while he was working for Hillbans, Lake, as its general manager. "It is very important people look for member companies as they should be qualified, provide high levels of service and be properly insured," he added.
John Davison, chief executive of the NPTA, said Mr French had demonstrated commitment to raising the standard of his business to the highest level and proved an ambition to be at the top of his profession by meeting strict accreditation criteria for NPTA membership.
Mr French aims to expand his firm by taking on a new member of staff next year.
